Mrs. Grumpy is STRANDED!!!

Posted by: Cindy Holman on: December 10, 2009

Yes.  It’s true.  We have 2 vehicles at our home – and 3 people that live here.  Guess who gets the vehicles?  The Men.  Guess who is always stranded?  Yes.  Me.

I’m pretty independent and lucky for my guys I don’t need much help with anything – but they insist I stay at home ALL THE TIME – without as much as a “time out” or anything.  And this “independent” thing is getting old.  I mean – when you are that way – you don’t need to go anywhere very often and your needs are small – very easily satisfied, etc. etc.  But ONCE in a while I would like to use my car – without having to track down my eighteen year old son to do it!!

Once in a while they let me have my car and let me out for a few hours – wouldn’t want to spoil me or anything.  So I will be happily enjoying my freedom, doing a little shopping – chatting with a friend – and then I will get a frantic text or call from either my husband or son – (mostly my son) wondering WHERE I AM??  The nerve.  He keeps me on a very short leash.

So here I am again – trying to get my car to go to theater class – and Shawn has some flimsy excuse about being in school or something – and it’s like 20 degrees out there – so there is NO WAY I’m walking to get it!  No I will be late and that will be the best I can do today.  I do so love my car – and I miss it terribly – and when I finally get to use it – it smells like a guys locker room.  Nasty.

Just thought I’d share while I’m sitting here waiting…and WAITING.

Have a great day!

God Bless

We have two cars and only two drivers now but my dh sometimes takes my car because he doesn’t want to get gas. He has a stick and I am not comfortable driving a stick. So I’m stranded too.

Signed,
Mrs AlsoGrumpy! lol

So you feel my pain!! Thanks JoJo – at least I’m not alone!!

My daughter in ND has my car. By the time I get it back, it’s going to have a half-a-million miles on it, smell like vanilla blossoms and coffee, and have months of unknown collectables thrown in the back seat. So, it’s not just guys. My oldest son got a job and bought his first car himself. My daughter just smiled and battered her baby blues at her dad…

Well I could say that I feel for you Ron – but it was the OPPOSITE with our family. Ashlee got a car loan (with her Daddy co-signing) and was and still is VERY independent – while our 18 year old son – just smiles and gives me a hug and kiss and says, “I love you Mama” and gets just about anything he wants. And my car smells like a sweaty guy and is loaded down with basketball clothes – dirty sneakers and drum equipment. It’s embarrassing to drive it anywhere. He will occasionally clean it – when he takes his girlfriend in it and she shames him and says, “how could you do this to your Mom’s car”?? I love her.

Oh, this post made me smile!:)
When our son used my car all the time (and I was waiting…waiting and waiting so I could do the shopping) I finally put my foot down and declared that Thursdays was going to be Mom-day. That meant I was going to have my “freedom” for at least 1 day a week.

You are lucky!!! You got a day!! I’m lucky to ever get a day!! Still waiting….♥
