Musings From A Musical Mind

What really matters

Yesterday my husband and I were out and about – trying in vain to stay cool in the record breaking heat wave that descended on us this week. We recieved news from a friend on Facebook that another friend of ours had been involved in a very serious water accident. He is currently on life support in a hospital north of us. Because of the serious nature of his condition they are only letting Pastors in to see him – so Greg and I – and maybe only Greg will be allowed to see him. We go this afternoon.

This news was very distressing to us. And it is at times like this that you really see what’s important after all. Life – friendship – relationships – these things are so important and when we are stripped of everything else in our lives – these are the things that matter -these are the things that last. Luckily our friend also knew and had a relationship with Jesus Christ. When stripped of everything – that is the most important thing – and the most valuable.

When faced with each of our impending mortality – we need to face the question – do you have any unfinished business with your creator? – what about unfinished business with people in your life? Do you think you will have lots of time to “fix” both of these areas? Think again. Our friend was young and still had so much life ahead of him. He would tell you today – make your peace with God today while you have a chance – and make your peace with the people in your life – don’t have any regrets. Don’t wait – do it today. None if us is promised tomorrow.

I know I don’t want to leave this earth with any unfinished business and any regrets.

I am praying for you

God Bless

  1. You are so right. So many things can plague us here on this imperfect earth but certain things are the ones that really matter.

Please update us on his condition. I’m praying here.

Thank you for your good words and direction for all of us. What really matters is that we know the Savior Jesus Christ and are ready to meet Him. Other important things (as you said) are relationships, praying for one another, being content with what we have, and doing God’s work as that will be all we will have to give in eternity. I am praying for your friend, who is a friend to so many.

  3. So well worded, Cindy. An inspired and inspiring article. Thank you.
