I think that sometimes we can feel left behind – forgotten – cast aside. Sometimes it is a feeling based in reality – most times it is not. It is important to know the difference.
Sometimes the “blues” are just the “blues”. I was reminded of a great Karen Carpenter song from the late 60’s called “Rainy Days and Mondays” – where the lyrics say this:
Talking to myself and feeling old
Nothing is really wrong
Feeling like I don’t belong
Hanging around – some kind of lonely clown
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down
Often times – it is what side of the bed we woke up on too – to put us in a “gloomy” mood. When we sleep great – when we feel great – often times that will affect our state of mind – or our “mood”. When we are tired or stressed – everything seems out of place and just wrong. Our world is not right – something is terribly out of place – and we just feel wrong.
I have felt like this many times in my life. Especially things I don’t have any control over – or things I can’t go back in time to “fix”. That will put you in a very somber and “gloomy” mood. I feel at times like that – that even God himself has abandoned me – has more important things to do than be worried or concerned with all my petty little “difficulties”. My tiresome worries and frivolities.
The Bible tells me in the book of Luke – that He is concerned about me – and what “stresses” me out.
“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
I love this! Yes. I am important to God. You are important to God. Not forgotten – not cast aside – not rejected – not too unimportant to be bothered with. But He knows me. I don’t have to be afraid anymore. My very hairs on my head – are known by Him. The details of my life He knows intimately. The times I have blown it. The times I have held on to those “secret things” thinking no one knew them. He knew. He still loves me. He has not abandoned me.
He has not forgotten you either. And He never will.
Another great to song to listen to when you’re just having one of “those days” is “Both Sides Now” – great meaningful lyrics written by the great Joni Mitchell. Enjoy!
I am praying for you today
God Bless
Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere, I’ve looked at clouds that way
But now they only block the sun they rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done, but clouds got in my way
I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
It’s cloud’s illusions I recall
I really don’t know clouds at all
Moons and Junes and ferris wheels the dizzy dancing way you feel
As every fairy tale comes real, I’ve looked at love that way
But now it’s just another show, you leave ’em laughin when you go
And if you care don’t let them know, don’t give yourself away
I’ve looked at love from both sides now
From give and take and still somehow
It’s love’s illusions I recall
I really don’t know love at all
Tears and fears and feeling proud, to say, “I love you” right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds, I’ve looked at life that way
But now old friends are acting strange they shake their heads, they say
I’ve changed
But something’s lost but something’s gained in living every day
I’ve looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It’s life’s illusions I recall
I really don’t know life at all
