Ask, Seek and Knock

” “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”  Matthew 7:7,8

This scripture brings comfort to us when we are hurting – grieving or in expectation for something.  Our God is gracious to us – walking with us through many storms of life – cheering us on in times of triumph and holding us like a small child when we are in pain.

I am glad that I can turn to Him anytime I feel my heart is broken – or so full with joy I can’t contain it.  He is my source.  He is my reason to carry on.

I feel His love carrying me when I’m worn out from life – or weary from trying to make sense of things on my own.  His peace covers me when I feel another storm threatening me.  His strength sustains me when I feel weak and useless.

I find that there really IS an answer when I “knock” on the door with all my questions.  Sometimes not right away – but silence is also an answer and I’ve learned to be content with that.  I also find that when I ask – He is working behind the scenes to bring it about – not as soon as I would like that answer sometimes – but it does come eventually. You see, it says that everyone who asks – will receive an answer – whoever seeks – will find – whoever knocks – the door will be opened.

I am praying God’s blessing on you today – as you ask, seek and knock.

God Bless

  1. Good reminder, Cindy. The toughest test of our faith is “waiting upon the Lord”. Oofda…as they like to say in the Dakotas and Minnesota. It can be tough. I’m still waiting for a job or to see what the Lord opens for me. I’m not sure what it is or will be. It is in that insecurity of not knowing that the enemy really attacks with the fiery darts of doubt, temptation, and bitterness.

    • You are right Ron. I don’t like waiting for ANYTHING!! Sometimes even when I feel like I FINALLY have an answer – still it can be shrouded in mystery – Ah well such is life – and I’ve learned we’re never safe from the element of “surprise” until we’re dead.

  2. One of the issues I see recently is that society is not willing to accept when God says wait. Or when the Lord doesn’t answer right away. When there isn’t a fix it solution immediately. In our microwave society we are all use to nano seconds and we find it hard to wait. Myself included. I’ve learned over the years that, though I seek an answer this minute, God’s timing usually brings more than I envisioned when He says wait.

Another issue I see is that what we ask of God is often using Him as a genie in a bottle. I think often I’ve learned to ask God to lead me rather than to fix a problem. I find it’s a more effective prayer because I listen for His answer even if it’s not what I thought I wanted.

    • So many times I’ve wanted things – and it wasn’t the best for me – but I couldn’t see it. It’s hard to see God’s plan for our lives in everyday living sometimes – but if we relax and WAIT there always is a plan – and He does eventually reveal it to us – when we’re ready to receive it.

  3. Great post Cindy! 🙂
Yes, when you ask His answer always comes. Not always as we expected, but it comes. Always. 🙂

  4. This article really encouraged me! I have been knocking and seeking God on some issues within my life, and wondering when it was going to come. I truly know that the answer will eventually come, but it’s just the in between time that keeps you frustrated. I have a declaration that I continue to speak everyday until the answer comes: “I believe God. I believe He is working in me no matter what I feel or how the situation may look. The Lord has begun a good work in me, and He will bring it to full completion!”

Thanks so much for the reminder!
