Musings From A Musical Mind

If you lived as a child or teenager in the 70’s you will remember the group “Chicago” and in particular this great song.

As my life goes on I believe
Somehow something’s changed
Something deep inside
Ooh a part of me

There’s a strange new light in my eyes
Things I’ve never known
Changin’ my life
Changin’ me

I’ve been searching
So long
To find an answer
Now I know my life has meaning
Ow oh

Now I see myself as I am
Feeling very free
Life is everything
Ooh it’s meant to be
When my tears have come to an end
I will understand
What I left behind
Part of me

I’ve been searching
So long
To find an answer
Now I know my life has meaning
Woah woah

For an answer
To the question
Oh yeah
Who am I?
Baby it’s true
It’s only natural
It’s only natural baby, yeah
Good things
In life
Take a long time
yeah yeah

  1. I remember that one!

  2. i always loved Chicago myself. I enjoyed them and Blood Sweat and Tears! I think life is a search for who we are and what life is really all about. Only when we find who we are in God do we see clearly what life is truly about! Paul tells us that when perfection comes (when we are with Him) we shall see clearly! Hindsight is always 20/20!

    • Thanks Chris! I agree with you! Almost posted a more ‘cheesy’ version of this song and then decided against it – But the ‘search’ is all about finding God and discovering what life is all about. Hindsight IS 20/20!!

  3. Oh, yeah, I remember that one! (Although I was a “bit” older in the 70s. . . LOL) Love Chicago! I think it was sort of the theme song of the generation who were growing up then. It was definitely a time of searching, as were the 60s before it. I think I’ll be searching ’til the day I die. I always seem to be on a journey. That’s okay, though. When you stagnate, when you stop putting one foot in front of the other. . . that’s when you die.

    • Agreed! Someone on youtube actually put Christian images with this song and I almost posted that instead of this – but I’m no so much into things that are predictable and a little cheesy – so I didn’t use it – as I don’t believe that’s what the lyrics of the song are talking about. It’s just general ‘searching’ – like you said – a generation that was all about the ‘search’. And I am still on that journey….
