Musings From A Musical Mind

Welcome To Our World

Christmas in the post-War United States

Greg and I had the privilege of seeing Michael W. Smith in concert last night – it was a Christmas present to each other this year.

I have followed the career of Michael since the early 80’s and found him to be authentic and unapologetic.  I like that.

He is the same live as he is in video or on his many CD’s.  There are not too many artists that can boast of this.  I found him humble and genuine – his music classy and moving.  And I found myself very emotional during some of the music he played.

He sang about loss.  He said how he had lost two good friends in 2010 and wrote a song about heaven entitled ‘Welcome Home’ – and it was amazing.  If you’ve ever lost anyone – this a great song for you.

He sang beautiful Christmas music – his opening number, ‘Christmastime’ was one we had listened to many years on one of his Christmas Cd’s – and to be honest – it really affected me – hearing it live.  I was very weepy.

I have included a beautiful number from his ‘Christmastime’ Cd – he did not sing it last night – but it’s still one of my favorites.

Enjoy and God Bless.

  1. Love his music too. Thanks.

  2. I love his Christmastime album. I always get a little weepy listening to it, too. Heard him do it live in Charlotte several years back with your girl Amy Grant and my girl CeCe Wynans.

  3. In Middle Tennessee Michael W. Smith has lost some of his following because he decided to get involved in some political races this past year. He lives in the area and he has that right but its a different beast when it comes to the music business in Nashville.

    • I don’t know anything about that – I try to stay away from politics myself – try to live peaceably with all men. All I know is I love the message he portrays through music – that touches the deepest part of me.
