30 years ago on this very day, February 14, 1981 – I sang a song for Greg that I had written. I was 19 years old – and by then considered myself somewhat of a songwriter – having written several songs – but none of them ever published – something I didn’t think to do at the time – because the songs were for me. And this song was rather personal and just something for Greg on that special day – we were engaged a month later and married in September of the same year.
Please excuse the recording – it was on an old cassette and then a few years ago I converted it to a CD to help preserve it – but in any event – here it is! It was my last attempt at songwriting until a few years ago when I wrote a song for a special friend.
And just so you know – life isn’t without its challenges and we’ve faced a few of our own in recent years – but we are still together and it was our deep friendship that kept us together even in rough times that can rock a marriage to its core.
And so I dedicate this song once again to my wonderful husband and friend, Greg ♥
Happy Valentine’s Day!

That’s really beautiful, Cindy! I assume that’s you on the piano, too? Great song. 🙂
Yes – recorded on a cassette player sitting on the piano – very primitive!
This is so sweet! And what a beautiful voice! When I was 19, I was staying up till 3 AM playing Madden football on Xbox. I feel like such a failure. LOL
No No – it’s just that you’re a GUY and guys at 19 are pretty young still – our son is that age now – he’s not in the same place that I was at 19 at all!
This is beautiful. How special. I actually wrote a song for my dh that my bride’s maid sang to us both on our wedding day. It was quite simple, though. Not like this.
Thanks JoJo! I would love to hear that song!
Wow, that’s an amazing Valentine’s present… then or now 🙂
Thanks so much John! Happy Valentine’s Day to you!
Cindy my love, this song has even deeper meaning to me now after 29 years together – I have valued and cherished our journey of love and life together. I love you more today than I ever have, and you continue to thrill me to the core in everything you do!
Happy Valentine’s Day, sweetheart! (if this were a video, you’d see skyrockets and a navy jet fly-over right now…ha!)
Ahh – that’s so sweet! ♥
