Musings From A Musical Mind

How’s Your Garden?

The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring
whose waters never fail.
Isaiah 58:11

This is our garden in our new home.

Ever felt really dry?  I’m so glad to know this:  No matter how dry, sick, diseased, tired, hopeless and out of strength I may be today – He will water me and give me the strength, nourishment and life so that I will flourish.  When all others around me are dry and broken – I will be sustained by that living water to keep me going, bringing health to my bones – and hope for all others around me looking for that water.  It is a spring that never fails.

How’s your garden?  Need some water?

Praying for you today.

God Bless

  1. We’ve been deluged with storms and flooding the past few days, so I guess we don’t need any waterin’ right now. Everything is nice and really, really green here right now, but I’ve seen it turn to brown in a heartbeat. I think we all need our waterin’ every now and then, both from the clouds and in the Lord.

  2. Good word today, Cindy. I want to remember that God is my sustainer even in the dry seasons in my life.

  3. I’m feeling pretty satisfied, but that’s not because of me it’s because of His Spirit. As I stay in His will with His children, like you, I’m satisfied… But, please, if you pray, and you think of my family and me, send one up, I’ll sleep better knowing you did, and I’ll do the same for you my friend…

  4. Jesus often went to the garden to pray…it was a place of refreshment and connection for Him. We sure need to seek that living water don’t we? Thanks Cindy!

  6. As usual, your blog is right on the Mark. My favorite saying is I am planting seeds and trusting God. God bless, Patsy Yager-McCaw, Englewood,Fl.

  7. Living in the desert of ARIDzona, I know all too well the meaning of living water. I’m normally dehydrated, but living here, I have felt heat exhaustion many times and it is very much like living without God. Without enough fluids in your body, you become confused, and tired. Too much dehydration and you are unable to walk without help. I’ve passed out several times due to the heat because I didn’t have enough fluids. The confusion and symptoms make you choose the wrong things which make your condition worse. You don’t feel like drinking and so you drink even less. Living without God or without listening for His guidance, is much the same. You get tired and weak. Confused as to what is good for you, you can choose the wrong things which will cause you to fall deeper into your troubles. If you analyze the words God uses to describe things, you realize just how carefully He chose them. The symbolism is rich, if you look for it.

    • Yes – and I can tell this strikes a nerve within you – living where it is dry with no water. We lived in hot dry Texas while Greg was earning his Master’s degree – almost 20 years ago. I remember missing the rain – and my son Shawn lives in Southern California and I’ve heard him say the same thing. When you’re from the Pacific Northwest – you never get used to a place without a lot of moisture. Vacation is one thing – but after awhile we NEED our rain!!
