Musings From A Musical Mind

Catch The Wind

When I hear the following song – I’m lost in an episode of “The Wonder Years” – and somewhere in the 60’s with all of its innocence and restlessness. A time gone by – another place – another season.

What song does this for you? Takes you back to another time and place when you hear it?

Recorded by Donovan in 1965 – Enjoy and God Bless

In the chilly hours and minutes,
Of uncertainty, I want to be,
In the warm hold of your loving mind.

To feel you all around me,
And to take your hand, along the sand,
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.

When sundown pales the sky,
I wanna hide a while, behind your smile,
And everywhere I’d look, your eyes I’d find.

For me to love you now,
Would be the sweetest thing, ‘twould make me sing,
Ah, but I may as well, try and catch the wind.

When rain has hung the leaves with tears,
I want you near, to kill my fears
To help me to leave all my blues behind.

For standin’ in your heart,
Is where I want to be, and I long to be,
Ah, but I may as well, try and catch the wind.

  1. Call me crazy, but whenever I hear “Take my breath” away, it reminds me of the summer in the 80s. I don’t know why, I guess that’s when this song was culturally exploding. It’s funny how music has that type of influence that it reminds us of specific moments in our lives.

  2. “Like a Rolling Stone”…Dylan gets me every time!

  3. Every song I’ve ever heard takes me back to the place and time I either heard it first or heard it most.

  4. I love this song! Remember it well. I think the one song that I have to say takes me back to this period is probably Mr. Tambourine Man by The Byrds. It was the first 45 record I ever purchased. I don’t remember if I wore it out or my Dad broke it from me playing it too much. ROFLOL He broke several of mine. . . a couple just about over my head. Those were the days.

    • Yes they were! I had a few 45’s too! Mostly vinyls and then cassettes though. None of the 8 tracks – never had a player for those – but I had friends that had them. A friend even had one of those in his car and he thought he was so cool blasting his 70’s music when he would give a few of us a ride home from 9th grade 🙂
