Musings From A Musical Mind

With Clear Vision

I sit in my office this morning – listening to my Spotify playlist while working at my desk.  I look out my window and see the incredible colors of fall – the trees in our front yard being the last of the trees to turn color in our neighborhood – and am in awe and filled with wonder at the incredible beauty – just outside my window.

This is behind glass.  A window that separates me from the outside – and from seeing this picture with clear vision.

What separates you from seeing something with clear vision?  If this life we are living – is just a picture – a dim picture of reality – as though looking through a dark mirror, then what is reality?   Are things sometimes not as they really seem?  When was the last time you wondered about something like this?  When was the last time you wished you could see a situation with clear vision?

God Bless

  1. Cindy, it would probably scare me to death to see anything with clear vision. Without passing it through the filter of my presuppositions, my world view, my bias, the lies I’ve set up for myself, the lies I’ve told myself about the world…I might be terrified.

Then again, I might know the truth. Good thoughts.

  2. I thought of what the last comment pointed out. What we see with our eyes is temporary and fleeting so we must keep our eyes on the unseen, that which is eternal. Easier said than done, but if we could do it ourselves, we wouldn’t need grace! Thanks Cindy.

  3. Sometimes it is fear that keeps me from seeing with “clear vision”. Fear twists and distorts the truth of what God is doing in my life. And somehow, I think that it’s up to me to handle the circumstances of my life rather than resting in and waiting on God to work out His plan in those circumstances.

It’s so good to be reminded that the vision I have of my life at any given moment is incomplete. But thanks be to God that His vision is clear and complete and He knows exactly where He is leading!

  4. I think only God sees with clear vision and, if we are lucky, we glimpse a bit of that when He speaks to us. The pressures of life and the frustrations of the day usaully obscure the clear vision and distract us from what God wants us to see.

  5. You remind me of two Scripture passages: “Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” (1 Corinthians 13:12) and: “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:18). None of us see clearly, for that clarity only comes from God and we are still shaded by sin and the fallen nature. Ah, but someday! There will come that day when we will see as we should – with a clarity and resolution that is beyond our meager comprehension.

I wonder about this often, and know that there are times when God allows His people to see through the veil, a quick peek, a passing glance at His glory and beauty. It is in those moments of pure clarity that I think we get just a taste of what is real. Things are not what they seem. When we realize this, that’s when we fix our eyes on what is “unseen” because that is where reality truly is. What is seen is “temporary” and how thankful I am for that! There is a greater glory than anything this world has to offer that waits for those who love the Lord Jesus Christ.

However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).
