This is a movie that our family used to watch every Christmas – it was our family tradition to watch for it in the TV guide and then be sure to be home to see it. This was before VCR’s, on demand, DVD players and DVR’s – so if you missed it – you just missed it. It is a post-war movie centering on a couple of army guys who go into show biz together and then meet the lovely Haines sisters. There are some really hilarious moments in this movie. I love the banter between Bing and Danny Kaye – and the beautiful singing of Bing and Rosemary Clooney. Vera Ellen is AMAZING and easily the best female dancer of all time – back in her day. Our DVD has an interview with Rosemary Clooney, looking back on her fondest memories of making this 1954 movie – and it cultivated a life-long friendship between her and Bing Crosby.
If you haven’t seen this – it is waiting for you to enjoy it and pass down to generation after generation.
