To Make You Feel My Love

Love Love Love

Image by Gregory Jordan via Flickr

There’s something so sweet and sincere about this version of this song.  I’ve heard it done many times now – possibly the most famous was when Kris Allen sang it on American Idol some 3 years ago now.  Every time this would come across my Pandora Radio while I was writing – I would stop and find out more information about it.  I decided to share it with you today.

My prayer for you today is this:  That you would have someone who loves you like this and wants to make you feel their love.

God Bless

When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I would offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love
When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
I know you haven’t made your mind up yet
But I would never do you wrong
I’ve known it from the moment that we met
No doubt in my mind where you belong
I’d go hungry, I’d go blind for you
I’d go crawling down the aisle for you
There ain’t nothing that I wouldn’t do
To make you feel my love
The storms are raging on a rolling sea
Down the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
But you ain’t seen nothing like me yet
There ain’t nothing that I wouldn’t do
Go to the ends of the earth for you
Make you happy, make your dreams come true
To make you feel my love

Rolling In The Deep

I heard this song sung by Haley this last week on American Idol  – and I was really impressed with it.   So I looked it up on youtube to hear the original artist singing it. Adele has an AMAZING voice and reminds me so much of Wynonna Judd – with that raspy, sultry color in her voice. Adele is from London and I love her speaking accent – although there is no trace of an accent when she sings.
This song is born out of Adele’s own experience with a broken relationship – but it is also her cry of resolution and resignation –  finding she had the inner strength to endure – did not let a broken heart keep her down – and finally – the ability to move on and say, figuratively speaking,  “Is that all you got”?  If you’ve ever been through something with someone – you will be able to identity with the lyrics.  Why oh Why – did I not think of these lyrics?  They’re really terrific!  Great song!
Enjoy and God Bless!

There’s a fire starting in my heart,
Reaching a fever pitch and it’s bring me out the dark,

Finally, I can see you crystal clear,
Go ahead and sell me out and a I’ll lay your ship bare,
See how I’ll leave with every piece of you,
Don’t underestimate the things that I will do,

There’s a fire starting in my heart,
Reaching a fever pitch and it’s bring me out the dark,

The scars of your love remind me of us,
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all,
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless,
I can’t help feeling,

We could have had it all,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
Rolling in the deep,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
You had my heart inside of your hand,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
And you played it to the beat,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

Baby, I have no story to be told,
But I’ve heard one on you and I’m gonna make your head burn,
Think of me in the depths of your despair,
Make a home down there as mine sure won’t be shared,

The scars of your love remind me of us,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
I can’t help feeling,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

We could have had it all,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
Rolling in the deep,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
You had my heart inside of your hands,

(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
And you played it to the beat,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

Could have had it all,
Rolling in the deep,
You had my heart inside of your hands,
But you played it with a beating,

Throw your soul through every open door,
Count your blessings to find what you look for,
Turn my sorrow into treasured gold,
You’ll pay me back in kind and reap just what you’ve sown,

(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
We could have had it all,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
We could have had it all,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
It all, it all, it all,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

We could have had it all,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
Rolling in the deep,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
You had my heart inside of your hands,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
And you played it to the beat,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

Could have had it all,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
Rolling in the deep,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
You had my heart inside of your hands,

But you played it,
You played it,
You played it,
You played it to the beat.

Your Song

My generation grew up with the music of Elton John.  His music was and still is what I think of when I remember junior high and high school days.  And no matter what you think of him personally, you would have to agree that you also know his music well – and his is a talent that has stood the test of time.

I have many favorite Elton John songs – not the least of which is one of his first hits, the song “Your Song”.  It is hard to “cover” his songs – as Elton’s voice is very unique – but I think we may have found someone who can do one of them justice.  Last night on American Idol – Casey Abrams gave a very tender rendition of this wonderful song and before youtube pulls it off for copyright infringement for the show – I hope if you did not see it last night live – you can watch it here.

Enjoy and God Bless  (and vote for Casey!)

You’re All I Need To Get By

My pick for this week’s show on American Idol was the Motown song “You’re all I need to get by” made famous by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.  Jacob Lusk sang this song last night – and although he is not my favorite contestant – the judges sure like him – and LOVED his rendition of this classic song!  Steven Tyler even ran up to the stage to give Jacob a hug after this performance!

Enjoy this great song and God Bless!

If You Don’t Know Me By Now

My pick for this week’s song from American Idol is the song that Stefano Langone sang last night – made famous by the great Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes.  There is never anything like the original artist that first made  you love the song – but Stefano’s rendition was so beautiful last night – I believe he could make a single with that song right now.  And you know the really cool thing about Stefano?  I have a former voice student who actually went to junior high and high school with him.  She said she always loved it when he had a solo.  Now all of America can see why!

Here’s to you Stefano – our own “local” boy – keep bringing those awesome songs back into our memory banks and introduce old things to those who are too young to remember.

Below is the original artist singing this great song.  Click on the link and then click again on “Watch this on Youtube” and you will be directed to the video.

Enjoy and God Bless

If you don’t know me by now
You will never never never know me

All the things that we’ve been through
You should understand me like I understand you
Now girl I know the difference between right and wrong
I ain’t gonna do nothing to break up our happy home
Oh don’t get so excited when I come home a little late at night
Cause we only act like children when we argue fuss and fight

If you don’t know me by now (If you don’t know me)
You will never never never know me (No you won’t)
If you don’t know me by now
You will never never never know me

We’ve all got our own funny moods
I’ve got mine, woman you’ve got yours too
Just trust in me like I trust in you
As long as we’ve been together it should be so easy to do
Just get yourself together or we might as well say goodbye
What good is a love affair when you can’t see eye to eye, oh

If you don’t know me by now (If you don’t know me)
You will never never never know me (No you won’t)
If you don’t know me by now (You will never never never know me)
You will never never never know me (ooh)

I Need You Now

This song was sung by Stefano on American Idol tonight and launched him into the top 13 – it was brilliantly executed with amazing clarity and emotion.  It was very touching – and I just had to share the song with you – here it is – sung by Smokie Norful.

Enjoy and God Bless!

Not a second
Or another minute
Not an hour
Or another day

But at this moment with my arms outstretched
I need you to make a way
As you’ve done so many times before
Through a window or an open door

I stretch my hands to you
Come rescue me
I need you…
Right away

I need you now
I need you now
I need you now
I need you now

Not another second
Or another minute
Not aother hour of another day
But Lord I need you right away

If I never needed you before
To show up and restore
All of the faith that I let slip
While I was yet searching the world for more

The true best friend I have indeed
You’re my best friend I know indeed
I stretch my hands to thee
Come rescue me
I need you right away

The agony of being alone
The fear of doing things on my own
The test and trials that come to make me strong
The feelings of guilt, hurt, shame, and defeat
The way the trials that beat upon me
But to know Lord that in you I’ve got victory

I need you now, Lord, I need you now (Oh, wo, wo)
I need you right now, right now, right now
I need you now

Oh not another second
Not another minute, Lord
Can’t wait another day (oh…)
Oh Lord, please make a way
Oh Lord, Oh Lord, Mmmmm, Yeah

Out Here On My Own

This was sung last night on American Idol by fifteen year old, Thia Megia.  I had forgotten about this song – it was from the movie “Fame” and sung by the great Irene Cara.  This is why I love things like American Idol – not only do we get to see up and coming new artists – but are also reminded of great songs in the process – and for me as a music teacher – it’s VERY VALUABLE!  I was in luck too – this great song is available in sheet music – Yay!  You bet I’m going to be having a few students singing it this week!  Hope you enjoy it – it’s one of the very best!

Please click on the video and then follow the link to ‘watch on youtube’.

God Bless

Sometimes I wonder where I’ve been
Who I am
Do I fit in.
Make believin’ is hard alone,
Out here on my own

We’re always provin’ who we are
Always reachin’ for the risin’ star
To guide me far
And shine me home
Out here on my own

When I’m down and feelin’ blue
I close my eyes so I can be with you
Oh, baby, be strong for me
Baby, belong to me
Help me through
Help me need you

Until the morning sun appears
Making light of all my fears
I dry the tears
I’ve never shown
Out here on my own

When I’m down and feelin’ blue
I close my eyes so I can be with you
Oh, baby, be strong for me
Baby, belong to me
Help me through
Help me need you

Sometimes I wonder where I’ve been
Who I am
Do I fit in
I may not win
But I can’t be thrown
Out here on my own
On my own
