Musings From A Musical Mind

Archive for the ‘Celebration’ Category

The first snowflakes appeared out my window today – as I was busy preparing and was so frustrated with my computer software for my camcorder.

When I saw the sweet little flakes floating down – it was a magical time for me – it always is – whenever it snows – no matter how old I get, the feelings are still the same.

My husband brought me a single red rose today.  That and the snow – made it an especially good day – regardless of the trouble with my computer – and the memories that a year ago bring to my mind.  Memories are like that.  They are neither good nor bad – they just simply are.  I remember all the snow last year at this time and thought I would never want to see those little flakes again – but I was wrong.  I am glad to see them again.  It is as if a whole year has gone by in a blink of an eye – the sights and sounds of Christmas are back again – the smells and wonderful things around me – and most of all – the things that are timeless – love, peace, joy, contentment, hope for tomorrow, our relationship with Jesus Christ – the reason for our happiness – our reason to go on – our reason to go and make a difference in our world.

A Rose – the falling Snow.

Back To Basics

Another Christmas Season.  Another Cold Snap and snow on the way.  It feels and looks like Christmas again – with our house lights up – our tree brightly lit up and all the candles that smell like evergreen and peppermint.

This year more than other years – I have found that simplicity has not only become necessary for us – but is necessary and should be essential for all believers.  Remembering why we celebrate – not being frantic about gift giving – or having to go to that next Christmas party or family gathering – but really stopping the chaos – the madness – the lines at the mall – the busy candy making and wrapping – so that we can just remember what this holiday is really about.

A baby

A visitation

God with us

A promise

A reason to celebrate

Joy to the World

The Lord IS come

Try to keep the “main thing” the “main thing” in your holiday celebrations.  Take a moment to stop, reflect and get back to basics this season.

God Bless
