You Won’t Let Go

You will LOVE this song!  Such a comfort for all of us who have ever struggled with faith, circumstances or change.  When we fix our mind on the “anchor for my soul” we can be assured that He will sustain us and never let go.  Powerful new song by Michael W. Smith.

Enjoy and God Bless

No shadow comes without the light making a way
No raging storm can ever defy one word of faith
My heart remains sure in the wind, sure in the waves

You are the anchor for my soul
You won’t let go
You won’t let go
No matter what may come I know
You won’t let go
You won’t let go

No valley low, changes the truth
So I’m not afraid
You hold me close
You lead me through and light up the way

Neither life, neither death,
The highest high, the deepest depth
Nothing can
Nothing can separate
Neither tears, neither trial
Certain as the sun will rise
Nothing can
Nothing can separate

My heart remains sure in the wind, sure in the waves, always

Brethren, We Have Met To Worship

I listened to a medley this morning in my bathroom while getting ready for the day.  Fernando Ortega came on my Pandora Radio station.  It was a medley of hymns – and this song was right in the middle of them.  I recognized it because for about a year we attended a United Methodist Church in Renton, WA.  This hymn was a favorite and I remembered it because of the beautiful melody.  Timeless with a gentle lilting motion, I think you will agree that it is soothing in a way that all great acoustic piano music is.  And in case you wanted to know what this hymn is all about – I have posted the lyrics below the video.

Enjoy and God Bless

“Brethren, We Have Met Together” is one of the oldest published American folk hymns. The lyrics were written by George Atkins and first published in 1819. The traditional tune, Holy Manna, is a pentatonic melody in Ionian mode originally published by William Moore in Columbian Harmony, a four-note shape-note tunebook, in 1829.[1] Like most shape-note songs from that century, it is usually written in three parts.  (Taken from Wikipedia)

Brethren, we have met to worship and adore the Lord our God;
Will you pray with all your power, while we try to preach the Word?
All is vain unless the Spirit of the Holy One comes down;
Brethren, pray, and holy manna will be showered all around.

Brethren, see poor sinners round you slumbering on the brink of woe;
Death is coming, hell is moving, can you bear to let them go?
See our fathers and our mothers, and our children sinking down;
Brethren, pray and holy manna will be showered all around.

Sisters, will you join and help us? Moses’ sister aided him;
Will you help the trembling mourners who are struggling hard with sin?
Tell them all about the Savior, tell them that He will be found;
Sisters, pray, and holy manna will be showered all around.

Is there a trembling jailer, seeking grace, and filled with tears?
Is there here a weeping Mary, pouring forth a flood of tears?
Brethren, join your cries to help them; sisters, let your prayers abound;
Pray, Oh pray that holy manna may be scattered all around.

Let us love our God supremely, let us love each other, too;
Let us love and pray for sinners, till our God makes all things new.
Then He’ll call us home to heaven, at His table we’ll sit down;
Christ will gird Himself and serve us with sweet manna all around.

Furious

This morning we visited a local church.  This was the first song of the morning – and it made a lasting impression on me, I could not shake the lyric all through the morning session.  I knew I had to find it and post it.  I pray it will speak to you and bless you as well as you continue through your day.

God Bless

Furious:
By Jeremy Riddle

Nothing can tear us from
The grip of His mighty love
We’ve only glimpsed, His vast affection
Heard whispers of, His heart and passion
It’s pouring out…

His love is deep, His love is wide
And it covers us
His love is fierce, His love is strong
It is furious
His love is sweet, His love is wild
And it’s waking hearts to life

The Father loves and sends His son
The Son lays down His life for all
He lavishes His love upon us
He calls us now, His sons and daughters
He’s reaching out…

… and its waking hearts to life
He is waking hearts to life
He is waking hearts to life

My Redeemer

The song I featured today is by well-known Christian artist, Matthew Ward.  You may remember him in the wonderful group “Second Chapter of Acts” back in the day.  His smooth vocals have always been a favorite of mine.  I read recently that Matthew has really been through it – struggled with his health and cancer – and in his suffering he wrote many songs that are such a blessing to many today.  I’m sure you will agree if you like acoustic guitar and a beautiful vocal.   Here is Matthew all grown up and still sounding AMAZING!  And if you are struggling with something – take a moment and listen to this – sit back and close your eyes.  Draw from that peace that is deeper than any pain you may be experiencing today.

Enjoy and God Bless

Here I go again
I’m thinking of the time when I will stand
and look into the eyes
of my Redeemer

Words won’t come my way
And deep inside my silent accolades
I’ll find my voice to sing of my Redeemer

And I know upon this earth I’ll never find
The words that can express my heart of mine

When with His words of life
He spoke and pulled my dark soul from the night
How can I repay my Redeemer

With His wounded hands
He held my broken heart to understand
I never can repay
My Redeemer

And I know upon this earth I’ll never find
The words that can express my heart of mine

Here I go again
I’m thinking of the time when I will stand
and look into the eyes
of my Redeemer
of my Redeemer
my Redeemer

Words and Music by Matthew Ward

Why

Little Narrow Gate

This song is one you may not have heard often – or at all.  But it is one of my favorites by great gospel singer Sandi Patty.  Music and lyrics like this are nothing short of inspiring!  I trust you will find the beautiful melody and rich lyric line a little lift today – as you find your own little narrow gate.

God Bless

Chorus:
There’s a little narrow gate
At the top of a hill
And it beckons my heart to enter in
And follow where it will
Oh, where it will
And the path that leads through this gate of dreams
Takes me away

With the wind at my back
The journey before me
I set my feet on the road that leads to life
And take the hand of the one
Who’ll be my companion
For he will show me the place to begin

Repeat Chorus

All of my life I’ve been waiting
Could this be the place I can start

Repeat Chorus
