Simply The Best – Wynonna Judd

Heartland (The Judds album)

Image via Wikipedia

I saw Wynonna last night on Oprah.  I have followed her career ever since she was a teenager and used to tour and sing with her mom, Naomi.  I have marveled at her amazing voice – her incredible ability to connect with her audience – and her courage to get through insane tragedy in her personal life.  Last night she gave the glory to God for helping her make it.  It was refreshing.  It was a broken person who had been to hell and back – and remained strong in her resolve and firm in the hands of God to sustain and lead her back.

In this song below I LOVE what she says at the beginning.  She is indeed “one of the best” – and I bless her for being an incredible role model who is not afraid to be different – say what she means and to be willing to make mistakes and learn from them.  She and her mom are going to be having a final tour this year – with all the new tools they have learned for their difficult and wonderful relationship through the years.  I loved watching them – in a weird sort of way – Wynonna reminds me of my daughter Ashlee – and I am much like Naomi – so I smile at the two of them – especially holding hands in front of the audience – so SWEET!!

Enjoy and God Bless

I call you when I need you, my heart’s on fire
You come to me, come to me wild and wired
Mmm, you come to me
Give me everything I need
Give me a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams
Speak a language of love like you know what it means
Mmm, it can’t be wrong
Take my heart and make it strong, baby

You’re simply the best, better than all the rest
Better than anyone, anyone I’ve ever met
I’m stuck on your heart, I hang on every word you say
Tear us apart no, no, baby, I would rather be dead

In your heart I see the star of every night and every day
In your eyes I get lost, I get washed away
Just as long as I’m here in your arms
I could be in no better place

You’re simply the best, better than all the rest
Better than anyone, anyone I’ve ever met
I’m stuck on your heart, I hang on every word you say
Tear us apart no, no, baby, I would rather be dead

Each time you leave me I start losing control
You’re walking away with my heart and my soul
I can feel you even when I’m alone
Oh baby, don’t let go

Ooh you’re the best (woo)

Rolling In The Deep

I heard this song sung by Haley this last week on American Idol  – and I was really impressed with it.   So I looked it up on youtube to hear the original artist singing it. Adele has an AMAZING voice and reminds me so much of Wynonna Judd – with that raspy, sultry color in her voice. Adele is from London and I love her speaking accent – although there is no trace of an accent when she sings.
This song is born out of Adele’s own experience with a broken relationship – but it is also her cry of resolution and resignation –  finding she had the inner strength to endure – did not let a broken heart keep her down – and finally – the ability to move on and say, figuratively speaking,  “Is that all you got”?  If you’ve ever been through something with someone – you will be able to identity with the lyrics.  Why oh Why – did I not think of these lyrics?  They’re really terrific!  Great song!
Enjoy and God Bless!

There’s a fire starting in my heart,
Reaching a fever pitch and it’s bring me out the dark,

Finally, I can see you crystal clear,
Go ahead and sell me out and a I’ll lay your ship bare,
See how I’ll leave with every piece of you,
Don’t underestimate the things that I will do,

There’s a fire starting in my heart,
Reaching a fever pitch and it’s bring me out the dark,

The scars of your love remind me of us,
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all,
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless,
I can’t help feeling,

We could have had it all,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
Rolling in the deep,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
You had my heart inside of your hand,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
And you played it to the beat,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

Baby, I have no story to be told,
But I’ve heard one on you and I’m gonna make your head burn,
Think of me in the depths of your despair,
Make a home down there as mine sure won’t be shared,

The scars of your love remind me of us,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
I can’t help feeling,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

We could have had it all,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
Rolling in the deep,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
You had my heart inside of your hands,

(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
And you played it to the beat,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

Could have had it all,
Rolling in the deep,
You had my heart inside of your hands,
But you played it with a beating,

Throw your soul through every open door,
Count your blessings to find what you look for,
Turn my sorrow into treasured gold,
You’ll pay me back in kind and reap just what you’ve sown,

(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
We could have had it all,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
We could have had it all,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
It all, it all, it all,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

We could have had it all,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
Rolling in the deep,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
You had my heart inside of your hands,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
And you played it to the beat,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

Could have had it all,
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me),
Rolling in the deep,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
You had my heart inside of your hands,

But you played it,
You played it,
You played it,
You played it to the beat.

Only Love

The Other Side (Wynonna Judd album)

Image via Wikipedia

My favorite song by Wynonna Judd – this song got me through a rough time a few years ago – and its lyrics are something I connect to.

Enjoy it and God Bless!

I have sailed a boat or two
Out on the wild blue
Yonder to dreams that rarely come true
As far as I can see
From the island of green
I can put my trust in just one thing

[Chorus]

And only love sails straight from the harbor
And only love will lead us to the other shore
Out of all the flags I’ve flown
One flies high and stands alone
Only love

Peaceful waters, raging sea
It’s all the same to me
I can close my eyes and still be free
When the waves come crashing down
And the thunder rolls around
I can feel my feet on solid ground

[Repeat Chorus]
